A metropolitan office complex in the heart of Rotterdam beside Rotterdam Central Station was in need of a facelift. CBRE Global Investors commissioned us to transform it into an attractive, warm, homely and informal place, with a touch of the Rotterdam spirit. A building where individuals from every region would feel at home when working, relaxing and networking.
By stacking blocks on top of each other on the ground floor, we literally connected this floor with the third floor. Stairs and terraces add an informal, lively effect. Combining open and closed structures creates transparency and functionality, and encourages people to meet whether they’re freelancers or tenants, locals or visitors.

We also created different forms of sitting, working and meeting on the two floors so that both floors can be used dynamically. The arches in and around the bar on the third floor are an homage to the old Delftse Poort (Delft Gate Building). In short, things are about to get very lively at Delftseplein again!
